OUR STORY

The origins of HINA

In Japanese culture, HINA represents women and sunlight.

Our company was born out of a mutual respect for modern women of all cultures and beliefs, and nurtured by a love of nature and beauty in all its forms. Our premium hijabs are created from the highest quality materials, and are all made in Japan using centuries-old techniques that have been carefully passed down from generation to generation.

OUR ARTISANSHIP

Our hijabs are crafted using traditional weaving methods handed down at the north foot of Mt. Fuji, which is famous for its exquisitely thin silk textiles used in kimono liners since the Edo period. We respect these older, slower processes, because this brings out the very best of the premium materials used. Our ultra-soft fabrics are sustainably sourced from natural fibers such as silk, cashmere and organic cotton.

HINA’s dedicated artisans carefully watch over all processes, from weaving, washing with water from Mount Fuji, to drying under Yamanashi’s beautiful sky and wind.

OUR COLORS

Every culture has its own sense of color, and Japan is no exception. Every single HINA product is dyed with colors found only in Japan. From prehistoric times to the present day, Japan has developed its own palette of traditional colors, known as “dentoushoku”, which are still loved and used across the country today.
